Career in Education

Gwen Walz began her career as an elementary school teacher in St. James, Minnesota. She held positions at various schools in the Mankato area before becoming the principal of Hoover Elementary School in North Mankato in 2004.

As principal, Walz implemented innovative programs to support student learning and improve school culture. She led the school's transition to a blended learning model, which combines traditional classroom instruction with online learning.

First Lady of Minnesota

In 2018, Gwen Walz's husband, Tim Walz, was elected Governor of Minnesota. As First Lady, she has focused on issues related to education, health care, and the environment.

She has launched the Walz Family Foundation, which supports organizations working to improve the lives of children and families in Minnesota. She is also a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has spoken out against discrimination.

Personal Life
