Garrett Wilson's Strong Debut, Breece Hall's Injury Overshadow Jets' Preseason Win

Wilson, Hall Highlight Jets Preseason Opener

The New York Jets opened their preseason schedule with a 24-21 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night. The game was highlighted by the strong debut of rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson and the unfortunate injury to running back Breece Hall.

Wilson, the 10th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, caught five passes for 102 yards and a touchdown in his first NFL game. He showed off his impressive speed and route-running ability, and he looks like he could be a major contributor to the Jets' offense this season.

Hall, the Jets' second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, suffered a left knee injury in the first quarter of the game. He was carted off the field and did not return. The severity of Hall's injury is not yet known, but it is a major concern for the Jets, who are already thin at running back.

Other Notable Performances

In addition to Wilson, several other Jets players had strong performances in the preseason opener.

  • Quarterback Zach Wilson completed 9 of 14 passes for 129 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for 28 yards.
  • Running back Michael Carter rushed for 48 yards on 10 carries.
  • Wide receiver Elijah Moore caught four passes for 46 yards.
  • Linebacker C.J. Mosley led the Jets with nine tackles.

Looking Ahead

The Jets will continue their preseason schedule next week when they travel to face the Atlanta Falcons. The Jets will then wrap up their preseason schedule with a home game against the New York Giants on August 25th.

The Jets are hoping to build on their strong performance in the preseason opener and carry it into the regular season. They will open the regular season on September 11th against the Baltimore Ravens.
